For lovers of delicious apples, early autumn is the ideal time of year. Now the apples ripen in no time and can be harvested. But even if you eat an apple every day - there are far too many hanging on a tree. So why not make something different out of it? A home-made apple pie is one of the great traditional dishes of German cuisine and is anything but boring. Whether with crumbles, old Bohemian or as a cake - your fruit is guaranteed to taste good.

Everything you need to bake apple cake
To turn your apples into a cake, you will of course need a few tools. It starts with the baking pan. If you want to make a classic fruit base, then it is best to use a special fruit cake pan like the La Forme Plus Quiche Pan from KAISER. For all other types of apple pie, a classic springform pan such as the La Forme Springform, also from KAISER, is the right choice. To prepare the cake, however, the apples must first be peeled and cored.
Other great things made from apples
It doesn't always have to be cake: How about apple sauce, for example? It tastes great with potato pancakes, rice pudding and many other dishes and can also be eaten on its own without anything else. Then it is also very suitable as unsweetened baby food, for example. To cook puree or porridge, you need a large saucepan like our models from SILIT or WMF. Although the volume is reduced when cooking, the sliced apples take up a lot of space when raw. To make the baby puree even finer after cooking, you can press it through a food mill. How fine the result is depends entirely on your taste. A good food mill like the “Flotte Lotte” from Gefu or the Küchenprofi food mill offer different levels of fineness.
This is how you make your apples last longer
So that you can still enjoy your autumn apples at Christmas, you can preserve them in a jar, for example. This makes them particularly long-lasting and you can enjoy them all winter long. Or make a delicious jam out of them. The process is similar to that for making apple sauce or mash. However, you add more sugar because this makes the jam last longer. Because it is filled while still boiling hot, a jam funnel ensures that you don't burn yourself. It is also well suited for small and narrow containers. How about giving everyone a jar of homemade jam with apple for Christmas? You can use empty jam or porridge jars for this. A checkered napkin that can be tightened with a gift ribbon will liven up the jar visually. Such a gift is guaranteed to be well received by everyone.
Enjoy the dark season
The apple is one of the most popular winter fruits because it has a long shelf life, is versatile and tastes simply wonderful. Whether as a cake, as puree and porridge, as jam or simply preserved - enjoy the last rays of autumn sunshine with the intense taste of a well-ripened apple.
