Kay Bojesen Denmark warmly welcomes Ruth, Pop, Otto, Kay, Peter and Sunshine and is already certain that Bojesen's wonderful animal family with these six colourful personalities will quickly make friends among design lovers from all over the world. Cheerfully chirping personalities Kay: Named after the designer himself, he is a huge fan of the colour blue. Kay Bojesen was always impeccable in his clothes, both in a blue suit with shirt and tie and in his white coat. A gentleman with a sense of understated elegance. Otto: Kay and Erna Bojesen only had one child - but what a child! Otto is the namesake of the magnificent songbird with the outstanding plumage, who found the love of his life in Ruth. What an attractive suitor in his grey plumage. Ruth: Full of life and charm: Kay Bojesen's Swedish daughter-in-law generously shared anecdotes about her life in the Bojesen family. KAY BOJESEN Denmark Puffin PUFFIN A broad-billed bird from the cold north! You might assume that such a colourful, exotic-looking bird would come from a distant, tropical climate zone. But nothing could be further from the truth. The extraordinary puffin with its colourful beak is, like Kay Bojesen himself, a product of the cold north. The puffin lives in large colonies in Norway, Iceland and on the Faroe Islands in the North Atlantic. From time to time, some of them also make a small detour towards Denmark. Perhaps even as far as Kay Bojesens' garden, where the charming bird with the friendly and trusting eyes would have received a warm welcome from the designer, who knew how to bring wood to life with his playful imagination and marvellous manual skills. The puffin differs from most of the other animals in the Bojesen family in that its body is painted in black and white, while its beak is brilliantly decorated with colourful stripes. Kay Bojesen designed this main feature in collaboration with the great scenographer Svend Rasmussen, who has been known for his naïve style and has added colour to several of Kay Bojesen's painted wooden figures in his studio in Bredgade, in the heart of Copenhagen. The puffin by Kay Bojesen has a height of 19.6 cm.
