The coarse hand grater is ideal for grating cheese, vegetables or chocolate into coarse shavings. Acid-etched blades give it its distinctive sharpness, which is retained even after prolonged use. A non-slip, ergonomic handle and a non-slip base ensure a secure grip. A protective cap for safe storage is included. This can also be attached to the underside to catch the grated food directly and is suitable for scraping off any remaining grated food from the underside of the grater.

The company Zyliss was founded in 1951 by the bicycle mechanic and inventor Karl Zysset (1907–1988) in Lyss, a small town near Bern. Zyliss invented the garlic press in 1948 and the salad spinner in 1978, and registered many more patents throughout his career. The Blitzhacker, introduced in 1953 and later known as the ZICK-ZICK, became a much-copied classic.
