The set includes a coarse grating drum made of high-quality stainless steel with blades that stay sharp for a long time, ideal for potatoes (Swiss rösti), carrots, cabbage, cucumbers, celery, cheese and more. The sturdy coated aluminium housing stands securely on all smooth surfaces thanks to its strong vacuum suction base. With the included table clamp, the device can also be securely attached to rougher surfaces.

The company Zyliss was founded in 1951 by the bicycle mechanic and inventor Karl Zysset (1907–1988) in Lyss, a small town near Bern. Zyliss invented the garlic press in 1948 and the salad spinner in 1978, and registered many further patents throughout his career. The “Blitzhacker”, introduced in 1953 and later known as the ZICK-ZICK, became a much-copied classic.
