It plays three melodies for three different degrees of doneness: As soon as the eggs are soft-boiled (white soft as wax, yolk runny), the tune “Skandal im Sperrbezirk” plays; if they are medium-soft (white firm, yolk semi-runny), “In München steht ein Hofbräuhaus” plays, and when they are hard-boiled (white and yolk firm), the tune “Ein Prosit der Gemütlichkeit” plays.
